I would imagine you’ve heard many things about what we often call “produce”
- fruits and veggies in other words. “If you can’t buy organic, you may as well not buy at all”, “all of the produce sold in stores is such a waste of money – fresh from the farm or your backyard is the only way”, “only raw produce is good for you”, “only cooked produce is good for you – we can’t digest raw veggies”…etc. Any of these produce laws sound familiar?
Well even though I can’t personally say any of these statements are inherently right or wrong, there are a few things we can all agree on:
- Fruits and veggies are beautifully healthy and an essential part of our diet
- Fruit and veggies are readily available to us practically wherever we go, and all year round
- Fruits and veggies CAN be bought affordably
- Fruits and veggies are one of the most versatile ingredients available
Ok, let’s discuss these points now, from the top:
#1. Produce is beautifully healthy and an essential part of our diet. This is a well-established fact – fruits and vegetables contain vitamins, minerals, fiber, and essential nutrients to supporting every system in the body. This is non-negotiable. Fruits and veggies MUST be a part of our daily diets, in one form or another.
#2. Produce is readily available to us practically wherever we go, and all year round. Yet another fact, you can find and purchase fruits and veggies at practically every grocery/convenience store (even gas stations) to be found. Although the quality and variety vary greatly from store to store, it is definitely available. In other words, there’s no excuse to not have fruits and veggies in your home and as a part of your diet at all times.
#3.Fruits and Veggies CAN be bought affordably –
